About a Boy
2002 Comedy, Drama

i watched about a boy last night and i have to say that i thoroughly enjoyed it. and not only because i’m an “anglophile”, as some people have referred to me.

i liked to think hugh grant had some redeeming qualities left in him as an actor, and simply as a person — especially after the divine brown fiasco. this movie proved that, despite his momentary lapse of judgement on sunset boulevard, he still has some good left in him.

the story was unique, as i have come to expect from nick hornby (writer of high fidelity). nicholas hoult outshined haley joel osment (well, maybe not the haley in the sixth sense). the music was also delightful (done by badly drawn boy).

i enjoy films more when they focus on people with no real goals in life. it’s something i can relate to. but as jon bon jovi says, “no man is an island.” (you’ll understand that more after having watched the movie.) pretty good for those two dudes who created american pie.

Final Thoughts
british fops rule.
