American Wedding
2003 Comedy

unlike its first two siblings (and especially the second), i really disliked this third and final part to the whole american pie saga. it was crude, hokey, and sappy in all the wrong ways. most of the gags were the same, minus a few integral characters who suddenly disappeared from the movie without so much as a lame excuse like “we all got real jobs and quit obsessing over sex, unlike these lame-asses who felt it necessary to film a third movie about the same crap”.

some of the moments that were actually laugh-out-loud funny involved seann william scott as stifler and his quirky mannerisms. the “milf” joke got old and finch, a.k.a. “shitbreak”, was not even remotely funny as a university graduate with a degree in reciting obscure quotes from plato, aristotle, volitaire, and who-gives-a-shit.

alysson hannigan was essentially a nyphomaniacal willow from buffy and the dude who plays kevin (you know, the kid in king arthur’s court, the rookie of the year) was essentially useless. the only redeeming part of the cast was jason biggs whose awkward qualities as an actor i enjoy tremendously (he’s hilarious on talk-shows).

this third piece of the trilogy smeared shit all over its cinematic legacy, if you can call it that — just like the “chocolate truffle” on stifler’s teeth.

Final Thoughts
the missing actors narrowly thwarted career-suicide by passing on this film.
