Anchorman
2004 Comedy
this movie was pretty darn funny, but nothing out of the ordinary. will ferrell is like a character straight out of saturday night live, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing; i miss will ferrell on snl. the storyline of the movie was good enough for a comedy of will ferrell’s quality. i liked the fact that it was placed in the seventies. i loved the hair.
i also love the fact that paul rudd is in anchorman! ok, so his role isn’t exactly calling for talent, but he did a great job with it. sleazy, yet mildly hot. (this is coming from a girl who gets turned on by seventies hair.) christina applegate also goes a fairly good job in this movie. on a related note, does anyone remember her now defunct television show “jesse”? with that hot latino neighbour, diego?
i found the first half of anchorman to be pretty lame and not very funny. however, i was delighted that the second half was so hilarious. (e.g., “the man punted baxter!”) what made the film better, in my eyes, were the cameos; it was chock full of guest appearances! ben stiller, vince vaughn, luke wilson, and even tim frickin’ robbins. in the end, it all balanced out to make a decent comedy.
