Confidence
2003 Caper, Drama

i really liked this movie! it smacked of matchstick men and the usual suspects a little bit, with its twists, turns, and… “twirns”. my one gripe about it is that it’s been done before, but that’s not something the film can really help, seeing as how most caper films are just rip-offs of one another in some way.

what saved confidence from being just another caper flick, though, was the direction and cinematography. it’s nothing oscar-worthy (not that i would really know what that standard is), but the colours, the vibrancy, and the contrast of light and dark of the movie made it much more appealing to me. los angeles has never looked so good.

now, on to the acting. edward burns: talented, masculine, incredibly sexy. i have never wanted him more than in this movie, even more than i wanted him in saving private ryan when he was killing krauts. rachel weisz: also sexy, but in a non-lesbian way. the rest of the cast: who? burns and weisz basically stole the show.

Final Thoughts
hella good.
