My Life Without Me
2003 Drama

i caught the viff screening for my life without me on friday. sarah polley was there (jealous? muhaha!) to promote the film. she was so, so great in it.

scott speedman, of course, turned in a stellar performance, though he didn’t really need to do much for the role. too bad he didn’t show up for the screening. i was halfheartedly hoping he’d turn up in a baseball cap and sunglasses and ask me to be his date for the night (sorry, alan).

story-wise, it was very unique. the concept was intriguing and the relationships between certain chararcters were extremely touching, especially between the protagonist and each of her daughters. it was a very good movie that i recommend to all of y’alls.

on a sort of side note, i also saw kristin kreuk in the ticket queue with her entourage. most of my male friends were brokenhearted after they learned the news, considering they refused to watch the movie with me in the first place. i have to say, watching sarah polley act in the film and then seeing kristin kreuk in an old episode of smallville is like savouring filet mignon and then comparing it to a mcdonald’s cheeseburger.

Final Thoughts
two very tear-stained thumbs up.
