so i got around to watching once upon a time in mexico the other night — and disliked it. since i enjoyed desperado a lot, i thought this sequel would at least follow suit. but i was wrong.

the good: johnny depp was funny — funny “ha ha”, i mean — with a handful of gringo-isms. what i actually thought was pretty interesting in the movie was that some of the characters who died in desperado were resurrected as different people in the follow-up. it would have been nice to see steve buscemi back as someone new, though.

the bad: too many characters, too many side-plots, too many unanswered questions. antonio banderas had what appeared to be rachel green’s hair circa 1996. salma hayek was in the movie for a total of 10 minutes and probably got paid 10 million for them.

the ugly: two words — enrique iglesias (puke).
