Resident Evil: Apocalypse
2004 Action, Horror, Sci-Fi
er, i thought it sort of sucked. i played the “resident evil” games for playstation, loved the first resident evil movie, but wasn’t too impressed with its sequel.
resident evil: apocalypse was more of an action flick than a horror flick, which i didn’t enjoy all that much. the first resident evil movie balanced the two rather well. this time around, it failed at that balancing act, tipping the scales to full-fledged action while completely dropping any semblance of an intelligent plotline. i’ll admit that some of the action sequences were well done, but a lot of them seemed very unnecessary and gratuitous.
it was funny at some points, most of which were provided by “token black guy” mike epps. the movie was also funny at some points when it was actually trying to be serious. for example, some guy shoots a dog and then tells it to “stay.” i still really like milla jovovich; i think she has done a great job as a “slashie” (that is a “model/actor… and not the other way around”). the rest of the actors in the film were laughable. jill valentine sucked ass; she had absolutely no emotion in her voice (e.g., “i’m good, but i’m not that good”). and why did the zombies sound like cheetahs? hoo wee, this movie was bad!
