Something’s Gotta Give
2003

although i usually like jack nicholson and diane keaton, this movie was not that great. i didn’t really enjoy the dynamic between the two actors and even the characters in the film. it’s about two over-the-hill people and their different personalities and outlooks towards love, but the entire plotline bored me so much that i had to keep from closing my eyes throughout the entire two hours.

there were some funny parts in the film, such as the viagra/hospital scenes and the look on jack nicholson’s face when diane keaton tries to give him mouth-to-mouth. but, apart from that, it wasn’t as remarkable as many critics made it out to be. perhaps you have to be over a certain age to find all of the jokes funny and all of the dialogue romantic. alan and i actually sicked his parents on the movie and they loved it! so, there you go.

nancy meyers’s writing and directing have never quite appealed to me. was i the only person who didn’t really enjoy the father of the bride movies? and what women want? yeesh! this woman is obsessed with mid-life crises. and the acting… i just don’t see how jack nicholson and diane keaton got oscar nods for their performances. they were exactly like every other character they’ve done before. the scene where diane keaton keeps bawling made me want to rip off my arm just so i could have something to throw at her (ࠬa joey from friends).

keanu reeves was looking rather dapper in something’s gotta give, though. this is probably one of the only films of his where i’ve actually wanted to jump into the television and start snogging him. and every time he was on screen it seemed like he was on the brink of saying: “tscha! i’m ted.”

Final Thoughts
this movie should be rated “50”, because anyone under that age will most likely not enjoy it.
