Starsky & Hutch
2004 Comedy

i wasn’t very disappointed with starksy & hutch mainly because i didn’t expect much from it to begin with. after seeing the trailer, i thought it was going to be a major snore-fest, and it lived up to my expectations completely.

ben stiller and owen wilson, who we can all agree make an awesome team, simply didn’t cut it in this film. i suppose i could blame it on the writers, whose collective résumé includes spectacular works like cradle 2 the grave (i’m rolling my eyes, if you couldn’t already tell). ben stiller doesn’t appear to have had his hand in writing the screenplay, which is what made zoolander so great. the jokes were way past their expiration date. ben stiller’s and owen wilson’s dynamic together couldn’t save a movie based on an already lame and now defunct television series that 70% of the movie’s audience have never seen in their lives.

vince vaughn was rather boring and will ferrell’s appearance as big earl was not as funny as the comedic gold we know he can produce. the “frat pack” largely fell short in starsky & hutch. snoop dogg wasn’t a great addition to the cast, either.

average white male viewer: hey, everyone! snoop doogy dogg is in this movie, and he’s a gangster who talks about marijuana! talk about stepping out of character!

whoop dee frickin’ doo…

Final Thoughts
not very funny, like, at all.
