Swingers
1996 Comedy
i watched this movie a long time ago, and i’m only getting around to reviewing it now. i remember when i first heard about swingers being a really great movie, i had in mind that it was some perverted film about married couples who get together and have sex with the other partners. boy, was i wrong! swingers is actually about a group of male friends who get together and try to have sex with other women. but it is really so much more than just that… it’s about friendship, finding love after your heart has been broken, and achieving your dreams in hollywood.
vince vaughn plays his best character, in my opinion, as trent walker. he pulls off some of the stupidest lines in male history, but instead makes them movie gems. jon favreau is lovable as the sensitive, forlorn best friend. ron livingston (of office space coolness) is also in this movie. an outstanding cast! all of the guys work well together, especially favreau and vaughn whose opposite personalities in the film make for funny dialogue.
swingers gets a lot of flack for not having too much of a plot. you know, i’ve never even noticed that. throughout the whole movie, you are just experiencing the routine of five guy friends in los angeles. all of the things they go through are both emotional and hilarious. i particularly like the scene where trent is playing sue at a hockey video game, but there are too many to list. watch this film — you’ll love it, too.
