The Life of David Gale
2003 Drama, Suspense
i watched the life of david gale yesterday and, if nothing, it reaffirmed my belief that kevin spacey is one of the most charismatic actors that has ever graced the silver screen (right up there with james dean). i love him to death. and i was also amazed that he had not one, but two sex scenes in the movie; it cleared out those images of him jerking off in american beauty from my head. not that i refected on them a lot.
anyway.
the movie really ignited my feelings against capital punishment. i absolutely loved the debate in the middle of the movie between david gale and the governor of texas (maybe because i just love arguing). we pride ourselves in being part of a highly evolved, civilized society where we breed other highly evolved, civilized persons. then, in this single issue, we become archaic, backward-thinking, blood-thirsty, executors. i could write an entire paper on this, but i won’t. only because i have four other ones due in a month’s time.
although this movie was good, i got bored during some bits. but what do i expect from a sociopolitical thriller?
